FAQ: AI Copilot for Conversations | Tess AI Chat Area

How to manage your conversations, documents, and settings on the Tess AI platform

Settings and Customization

1. How do I choose the AI model?

In Tess AI, you can choose between various models like Gemini, ChatGPT, Llama, and Mixtral. To make the best choice, click the "i" icon next to the model name in the chat. You'll find details such as:

  • Context window: How much information the model can process.
  • Cost: Whether a model is more or less expensive.
  • Speed: How fast the model responds.
  • Last update: The date the model was last updated.
  • Scores by category: Ranges from 0 to 10 in areas like coding, natural sciences, common sense, and mathematical analysis.

These details help you choose the model best suited for your task.

2. How do I choose the AI’s creativity level?

You can adjust the AI's creativity level in settings. The scale ranges from "Systematic," which is more objective, to "Imaginative," which allows more creative freedom. The options are:

  • Systematic: Least creative, focused on following the prompt exactly.
  • Objective: Slightly more flexible but still prompt-oriented.
  • Natural: A balance between creativity and precision.
  • Creative: Greater freedom to improvise.
  • Imaginative: Maximum creativity, ideal for storytelling and advertising.

3. Can I rename my chats?

Yes, you can! Go to your conversation history and click the pencil icon next to the chat name to rename it.

4. How do I delete a chat?

In your history, select the chat you want to delete, hover over it, and click the trash can icon to remove it.

Managing Documents and URLs

5. How do I add documents to the chat?

Click the paperclip icon, choose "Add to Knowledge Base," and select from the supported formats:

  • Audio
  • CSV
  • Excel
  • Google Sheets
  • PDF
  • Webpage

Certain documents, like spreadsheets, require specific settings, such as defining the tab and range. For others, simply add the file or link.

6. What’s the difference between adding a URL to the chat vs. adding it to the knowledge base?

When you paste a URL directly into the chat, it is only referenced to generate the current response, and the AI won’t access the site afterward.

However, if you add the URL to the knowledge base, the AI will have continuous access to the content throughout the conversation, using the site’s information within its context window.

Credits and Models

7. What are unlimited models?

Unlimited models allow you to have continuous interactions without consuming credits in the chat. These models are marked with the infinity symbol. However, using files from the knowledge base may still consume credits.

8. I’m using an unlimited model, but it’s consuming credits. Why?

Even though an unlimited model lets you chat without credit consumption, processing files added to the knowledge base, like PDFs, spreadsheets, or URLs, still uses credits. The model itself doesn’t use credits for conversations, but external content processing does. When you add files for reference, credits are deducted regardless of the model's chat capabilities.

Conversation Management

9. How do I check my chat history?

Access the "History" tab in the upper-right corner of the platform. There, you'll find a list of all your interactions, ordered by date.

10. How do I start a new chat?

Click "New Chat" in the upper-right menu to begin a fresh session without previous context.
